Samsung has chosen more efficient RAM for the Galaxy S25 series

Samsung used LPDDR5 RAM for the Galaxy S23 series and then upgraded to LPDDR5X for the S24 models. However, this year’s flagships will retain the LPDDR5X chips ETNews reports that the company chose those built on a smaller node.

The Galaxy S24 series reportedly uses 13nm RAM chips made by Samsung. Today’s report suggests that the Galaxy S25 series will move to 12nm chips, and that Samsung has switched to Micron for the initial order. For future batches, Samsung is expected to mix in a larger percentage of Samsung-made RAM chips.

The smaller semiconductor node for S25 RAM will use less power, reducing heat and improving efficiency. This RAM will be paired with the Snapdragon 8 Elite on all three (four?) models.

Crucial for fans of small Galaxy S phones, the standard S25 model is expected to have 12GB of RAM – it was Samsung’s last flagship still with 8GB. All of this should combine to give a solid boost to performance.
